Mr. Mark Hamilton
Education B Sc., H.D.E.
Mr. Hamilton has been principal in Rockbrook since 2005. He is involved in a number of other educational undertakings, including Citywise, a not-for-profit organization working with young people in Dublin and Belfast. He has had two books on social commentary published and writes occasional articles for publication. He contributes to the work of the Iona Institute, a think tank on social issues. He produces the school’s regular newsletter.
Mr. Joseph Flanagan
Education: M. A. (English) University College Galway; B. D. (Theology) University of Holy Cross, Rome; H.Dip.Ed., Trinity College, Dublin.
Subjects: English and Religious Knowledge
Mr. Flanagan is a keen literary scholar and promotes wide reading with his classes. He has frequently brought senior classes to London, Oxford and Cambridge as a means of broadening their cultural horizons. He is an enthusiastic cyclist and hill-walker and accompanies school groups on the Camino de Santiago. He organises the annual prize-day in the school and as senior form-master, looks after the graduation of sixth-year students. Mr. Flanagan is a supporter of Age Action Ireland and frequently involves senior students in volunteer work with the elderly.
Mr. Eamonn McDermott
Education BA (UCD), H. Dip.Ed (UCD)
Subjects: Irish, History
Mr. McDermott is one of the longest serving members of staff. A firm demeanor counterbalanced by an understanding nature makes him a very popular form-master for the Junior Classes. Originally from Kerry he has a great passion for the Irish language which he transmits to his students. He enjoys walking and has a number of stages of the Camino de Santiago under his belt.
Mr Sennen O’Boyle
Education: B.Sc.(University College Dublin), H. Dip. Ed
Subjects: Mathematics, Physics
Mr. O’Boyle is another long-term serving member of staff. He has a passion for Physics and Mathematics which he communicates to his students. He is a national champion at many levels in both judo and orienteering. He has a love for the great outdoors and for venture sports. Mr O’Boyle often leads school hikes in the Wicklow wilderness.
Mr. Raymond Delaney
Education: B.Sc. (University College Dublin), H.Dip. Ed.
Subjects: French, English
Mr. Delaney has a great love for all things French. He is a set designer and set constructor with the Taney Drama Society and he promotes theatre-going among students at all levels. He co-ordinates the staff-room’s social activity.
Mr. Joe Cabello
Education: BA and MA, University College Dublin; H Dip Ed, University College Galway
Subjects: Spanish, Computers, Religion, SPHE, Physical Education.
Mr. Cabello, a keen footballer, holds FAI coaching certificate and manages the U13 and U14 teams. He assists in the running of the school‚ Dangerous Summer Camps. He is a past President of the Association of Teachers of Spanish in Ireland and is currently part of the national committee. He has developed Espanol a Punto, a successful language learning method. Mr Cabello introduced the game of padel to Ireland and established Ireland‚ first ever padel court at Rockbrook.
Mr. Andrew McDonnell
Education: B.A. (University College Dublin), H.D.E.
Subjects: Mathematics, Geography
As geography teacher in the school Mr McDonnell is actively involved in organising geography outings and trips at all levels. He also coaches and manages senior soccer in the school, leading the U19 team to a Dublin Metropolitan Cup victory in 2012. Mr. McDonnell is a keen photographer, winning many public competitions for his work. Most of the school website photographs are the fruit of his labours.
Mr. Ed Kellett
Education: B. Comm. International with Spanish, (University College Dublin); MSc. E Commerce (Dublin City University); HDip Education (University College Dublin).
Subjects: Business, Spanish, E.C.D.L.
Mr. Kellett has lived and studied in Spain and is a dedicated teacher of Business and Spanish He has a strong I.T. background and is a web designer and app designer. He is involved with school trips including the Italy and Kenya trips and he is also involved with the Local Lives charity.
Mr. Jude Mulligan
Education: BA, University College Dublin; MLitt, University College Dublin; MSc, PGDE

Mr. Mulligan is the coordinator of school link with our partner African schools and has been to Kenya with school groups regularly. He set up the Local Lives foundation, in conjunction with past students of the school. He is the school’s literacy coordinator. He also co-ordinates all the Transition Year syllabus and activities.
Dr. David Nolan
Education: BSc (Chemistry) and PhD (Biochemistry) in NUI Galway. Licentiate in Theology, University of Navarre, Spain.
Dr Nolan is one of the founding Trustees of Rockbrook Park School and was its first principal. He is the longest serving teacher in the school. He has directed many projects for the Young Scientists Exhibition and organises language exchanges for Rockbrook students in Spain and in France.
Mr. Jackie Brennan
Education: BA, University College Dublin; H.Dip. Ed. (UCD); Dip.Career Guidance (UCD); Dip. Ed. Administration, NUI Maynooth.
Subjects: Career Guidance
Mr. Brennan has been with the school since its beginning in St. Stephen’s Green and has been guidance counsellor since 1993. A former deputy principal he is Chartered Member of the Institute of Guidance Counsellors and has contributed to a number of web and print publications including the Irish Times Leaving Cert Exam Guide. His publications include “A Dictionary of Geography for Irish Secondary Schools”. He is also a teaching practice supervisor in Dublin City University.
Mr. Derrick Dunne
Subjects: Business Studies, Physical Education
A past student of Rockbrook, Mr. Dunne has been teaching in the school for twenty years. He has a background in athletics, competing at a national level. A former League of Ireland player and goalkeeping coach, he currently coaches under-age soccer with Blessington FC. He manages the outdoor aspects of Transition Year and the school’s Dangerous Summer Camps.
Mr. Andrew Larkin

Mr. Larkin is an enthusiastic educationalist, a passionate musician and an avid linguist. Mr. Larkin oversees senior debating and the students‚ French club. He promotes classical music concerts in the school.
Mr. Codie Preston
Education: BSc (Hons), University College Dublin; PGDE, Trinity College Dublin.
Subjects: Science, Biology
Mr. Preston has been a teacher in Rockbrook since 2008. In that time he has created enthusiasm for the sciences through the Science Club and assisting students in BT Young Scientist and other exhibitions. He coordinates the Clanns and Gaisce award programme. He is a keen educationalist and continues to volunteer in a number of educational projects outside of school and has gained experience by doing volunteer teaching in India, Haiti and Kenya.
Mr. David Boland
Education: BA, University College Dublin; PGDE, University College Dublin
Subjects: Mathematics, Economics and Business Studies
Mr. Boland qualified as a Chartered Insurance Practitioner, ACII, and worked for some of the leading commercial insurance broking firms in the country before he began teaching and bringing his commercial experience to the classroom. He has won academic scholarships and the Patrick Semple medal for mathematical studies while studying in UCD. He has a strong back ground in Scouting and often leads school hikes. He is a previous Leinster Schools chess champion and oversees the school’s chess club.
Mr. William O’Brien
Education: BA, University College Dublin; MA in History of British-Irish Relations (UCD); MEconSc in European Economics & Public Affairs (UCD), PGDE (UCD)

Mr. O’Brien spent time working in public policy and research before becoming a teacher. He worked alongside the former Taoiseach Dr. Garret Fitzgerald and has been involved in a number of political campaigns. He is a keen education technologist and is working on developing drama, film and animation in the school. He oversees school debating. Most recently, he helped found the Padel Federation of Ireland.
Mr. Donal Murray

Mr. Murray is a professional artist whose works are included in numerous public and private collections including places as diverse as Dail Eireann and Our Saviour‚ Church Manhattan NY. As a former student, Mr. Murray is determined to transmit to his students the techniques and skills he has mastered over the years, enhancing the cultural and educational vision of the school. He oversees the school’s Art Club.
Mr. Paul Fagan
Education: BA, National University of Maynooth; MPhil (Early Modern History), Trinity College Dublin; Postgraduate Diploma in Education, Trinity College Dublin.
Subjects: Music and English
Mr. Fagan is an avid musician playing piano, flute, and organ and who has extensive experience in choral singing. In the school he is responsible for developing the Rockbrook Choral Singers and for the Baroque and Rock lunchtime concert series.
Fr. Donncha O hAodha
Education: BA (University College Galway) MA in French (University College Dublin), H.Dip in Ed (University College Dublin), D.D. (University of the Holy Cross, Rome).
Fr. Donncha worked as a teacher for a few years at Colaste Raitihin in Bray, Co Wicklow before going to Rome to study theology. He was ordained to the priesthood for the Opus Dei Prelature in 2001 and since then has exercised his ministry in Dublin mainly among young people, university and second-level students. His interests include music and literature. He is a member of the national steering committee for the study of the Catechism of the Cathollic Church and has written a few booklets on topics related to evangelisation.
Mr. Myles Cassidy
Education: BA, (University College Dublin & Galway) H.Dip in Ed (University College Dublin).
Subjects: Irish and History
Mr. Cassidy is much travelled, having come to teaching a little later than most. He is a keen choral singer.
Mrs. Nuala Breslin
With 20 plus years of international experience, Nuala‚ career spans from London, Brussels and San Francisco to her home town of Dublin. She has worked in the education sector for the past 7 years. Previously, Nuala worked for a global investment firm and for the European Commission. Nuala has a strong project management and technical background.
Mrs. Kathy Quinn Healey
Mrs. Healey has been a SNA for eight years. She has a keen interest in Art and makes valuable seasonal artistic contributions to the family life of the school. She is an enthusiastic fundraiser and has raised funds for many of the most prominent charitable organisations.
Mrs. Susan Clarke
Mrs. Clarke joined Rockbrook in 2012. She is a qualified Montessori teacher, having taught in Australia for five years. She also is experienced in special needs teaching. Her interests are playing tennis and she is an avid reader.
Mrs Anne Prendergast, a past parent of the school, provides secretarial support to the whole school community. Anne has over ten years experience in the education sector of the HSE and qualified as an SNA in 2012. She is a qualified reflexologist with interests in health and fitness.
