The school generally operates three-day exam periods for all classes and also hold class exams more frequently, as follows:
– the last three days up to midterm in October
– the last three days up to Christmas break
– the last three days up to Easter break
– the last three/four days to summer break.
In addition to the above occasional class tests are usually held at the end of September, and again before February mid-term.
The 3rd and 6th years will have full mock exams over seven or eight days leading up to February midterm break In general, it is school policy during examination week that a student be in school, even if he is not sitting an exam on the day in question. However, for mock exams, a 3rd or 6th year student with no afternoon exam may go home at lunchtime. If a 6th year has no morning exam during the mock exams he need not present himself in the school until his next exam is due.
Based on exam results and/or class tests Student Assessments or Reports are posted to families on the following dates:
– first half of October
– late February
– two/three weeks after Easter
Reports are made under three headings: Effort (marked out of 10); Attainment (marked out of 100); Behaviour (either satisfactory or unsatisfactory). The attainment mark relates to exams or tests conducted by the teacher.
