As part of the personal development of students in the school, students are expected to undertake responsibilities within the school. Over time, these jobs and responsibilities will be carried out through the school clann system.
A reward system related to these responsibilities includes:
- the award of a trophy and prize at year end (Ciaran Houlihan Award) for spirit of service within the school
- the award of prize at year end by the Board of Management in acknowledging a student’s service
- where jobs and responsibilities are incorporated into clann system, clann points will be awarded for jobs done or responsibilities undertaken
Transition Year students are given specific responsibilities for promotion events within the school (e.g. Open Days, some parent events), as part of their project work. The sports masters may also allocate students who are not involved in sports to carry out specific jobs.
Helping the agedSenior students have the opportunity of going in small groups to help older people in the community. This work is co-ordinated by Mr Flanagan in the school.
